Hey everyone!
Today's post is a new kind for me - it's a lovely scented candle, from Jo Malone. Originally received by my mum as a Christmas present, I was given it to burn in my room as my mum never remembers to light scented candles. I have to say, as this is my first foray into high-end scented candles, I was impressed. The scent is Pomegranate Noir, and it's available for £38.
First of all, the packaging is a thoughtful touch. The candle comes in a heavy-bottomed glass jar with a lid and a bow, inside a tissue papered box with Jo Malone long safety matches. I thought it felt rather luxurious.Yes, it's expensive. I balked at the price, but it has a 45 hour burn time, which means that you are spending less than £1 per hour of burn time. I found the scent filled up my (smallish) bedroom in 15 minutes. I usually burn it for half an hour at most. There is a little bit of smoke initially but it dies down. The candle seems to melt relatively evenly, and far more so than any other candle I have so far tried.
On to the scent, which is always hard to describe. Some people online do not like this fragrance, finding it too peppery, and it is woody and spicy. The top notes are fruity, with a strong pomegranate scent, while the underlying notes smell to me more like cloves. Apparently there is jasmine in here too, which may be why I like it so much. Yes, it's probably not the scent I would have picked up in store (I tend to go for the citrus scents) but for winter this is a warm, cosy, woodsy scent that I am loving.
Have you tried any high end scented candles? What are your thoughts?

This sounds so nice, don't think I could justify the price though :/ x
ReplyDeleteIf I hadn't got it for free I doubt I could either!

ReplyDeleteI know! Jo Malone stuff is lovely, but if I hadn't recieved it for free I don't think I would have bought it myself as I can't really justify the price. It smells heavenly though.

I wish Jo Malone was more accessible here where I live. I would love to splurge on their products!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame it isn't! I've heard good things about Diptyque and Neom though if they are available where you are!

This sounds really inviting for winter, a very unique scent! I haven't tried high end candles but they are such a luxury and make a lovely gift. The packaging is gorgeous as well :)
ReplyDeleteThe packaging is so lovely! They are great for gifts - oddly, I can see myself buying them for other people, but not for me.
