Today's post is a new kind for me - it's a lovely scented candle, from Jo Malone. Originally received by my mum as a Christmas present, I was given it to burn in my room as my mum never remembers to light scented candles. I have to say, as this is my first foray into high-end scented candles, I was impressed. The scent is Pomegranate Noir, and it's available for £38.
Yes, it's expensive. I balked at the price, but it has a 45 hour burn time, which means that you are spending less than £1 per hour of burn time. I found the scent filled up my (smallish) bedroom in 15 minutes. I usually burn it for half an hour at most. There is a little bit of smoke initially but it dies down. The candle seems to melt relatively evenly, and far more so than any other candle I have so far tried.
On to the scent, which is always hard to describe. Some people online do not like this fragrance, finding it too peppery, and it is woody and spicy. The top notes are fruity, with a strong pomegranate scent, while the underlying notes smell to me more like cloves. Apparently there is jasmine in here too, which may be why I like it so much. Yes, it's probably not the scent I would have picked up in store (I tend to go for the citrus scents) but for winter this is a warm, cosy, woodsy scent that I am loving.
Have you tried any high end scented candles? What are your thoughts?
