Hey everyone!
As you probably know, I have been using my Sleek Brow Kit in Dark (£7.99) ever since I got it, to tame and fill in my unruly brows. I usually get them waxed once a month, with plucking in between, but have been recently considering threading, which is cheaper and apparently better. Can anyone share their experience?
I very luckily received a new brow kit to try, and have found that I really like it. The Fashionista StyleBrows Kit (£7)* gives me a more subtle finish than my Sleek Kit. There are a few differences, though.
First of all, and most noticeably, the Sleek Kit comes with a dark coloured wax and brow powder. The Fashionista Kit comes with three powders and a clear wax. The powders alone are not too heavily pigmented and can be mixed together to create a 'custom shade'. Here are the three shades swatched:
I followed the packet instructions and applied my brow powder first. I used a mix of the two darkest shades to fill in my brows, and the lightest shade as a matte highlight under the brow. Then, using the other side of the dual applicator, I applied a wax to 'lock' my brows in place.
As you can see, my brows look a little darker, more filled in and in place. I love my Sleek Kit for it's ability to give a strong brow (never a bad thing in my book) but this palette is perfect for days when I want my brows to look well kept but natural. I am still thinking about getting threaded, but I love this palette for it's versatility and the fact that my eyebrows don't budge using the wax.
Also, if you want more pigmentation, it is suggested that you mix the wax and powder together. However, I feel like I'll use my Sleek palette for bold brows, and this for defined, yet natural looking brows.
What do you think?

Definitely try having them threaded, I used to have mine waxed too but threading is so much better, it hurts less, I don't experience any irritation like I did with wax and you can alter the shape of your brows easier and get a more defined brow. Not sure what pricing will be like where you are but I pay £7 for my brows and top lip to be done whilst I payed £10 for waxing so it's a little cheaper.
ReplyDeleteDoes this kit only come in one colour? I feel the darkest shade wouldn't be light enough for me.
I think I'm going to! It's £5 to get my eyebrows threaded here compared to £9 waxing, so I'll certainly save money.
DeleteI think so - but there are two relatively light shades here, and I've seen people use the dark shade as a liner or shadow if it is too dark for them.

I'd love to try this!

This is perfect! It is exactly what I´ve been looking for! Most brow kits is to pigmented for me, as my brows are dark and thick and my skin is pale (Snow White anyone?) and I dont want to look like I got two garden slugs over my eyes. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteFab! So glad this was helpful to you!

Sounds like the perfect product for natural looking but still defined brows :) I like how it gives a tidier, fuller brow, without looking overboard and overly dark and defined :)
ReplyDeleteMe too - think this works well for a more natural look.

Amazing colours. I am in love with brown eyeshadow, aspecially without glitter!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think I might use them as shadows too :)

This looks like a great little kit :) I went off my Sleek kit as it made my already fairly full brows (when they're dyed, at least) look a bit too solid so this looks like a nice alternative :)
ReplyDeleteI like my Sleek kit but you are right, I have to be very light-handed with it because otherwise it can look like I've drawn huge black eyebrows on. This is a lovely alternative :)
