15 Day Nail Challenge! Day 9: Red

Hey everyone!
Day 9 of Makeup Savvy's 15 Day Nail Challenge and the theme is red. I was lucky enough to be sent some velveteen manicure from Originalsugar.com (it comes in so many colours!) in red, so I thought I'd try that out today. I don't think I did it the best and I may have used to much, but it's different and fun:

I used Mavala's Elle Red, which was a free gift with ELLE ages ago, and the packet of velveteen manicure.
I painted my nails with one coat of Elle Red, then applied a topcoat.
While the topcoat was still wet, I dipped my finger in the manicure powder and pressed gently, then I let it dry for a full minute and blew off the excess. I did this for each finger.
I think I used too much powder, but they turned out ok. It's a fun, unusual look but not something I would use every day. Weirdly, this doesn't flake off like I was expecting. It stays on pretty well in regards to brushing you hands against things. However, when applying this is very messy so don't wear your best clothes! This will be slightly more difficult to remove than your average nail polish.
Also, my boyfriend hated it, if that means anything!

What do you think? Would you try this?

  8. THIS IS TOO COOL, I need my nails to be fuzzy right now! To be honest I've thought a lot of the newest nail trends were a little stupid/a crap ton of work (like the sponge technique ombre nails, who has the time for that?!) but this is awesome. Your boyfriend doesn't know what he's talking about ;) This is going to be on my nails ALL fall and winter, kind of like a cozy coat for your nails (GET IT?!!! PUNNY!) hehe xx

    1. Haha! Oh no, wait till you see tomorrows challenge which is gradient! I may have used a sponge ;) And I love the effect but you're right, it was a bit time consuming! Not as time consuming as this to be honest though, because I had to wait for each nail to dry, and get rid of all the excess. I kind of feel like I have Elmo nails though! Which is a good or a bad thing depending on your point of view! You should totally try it out though, I'd love to see the effect on someone who's better at nails than me!
