This is the last instalment of the Drugstore BB Cream Series. If you'd like to see parts one to eight, just click here. My mum and I have tested all nine BB creams readily available in UK drugstores. If you'd like to see more about our skin types, click here.
Today's review is of the Vivo Beauty Balm (£5.00) which is available in Tesco Supermarket and also online with international shipping. I got it in the shade Light Shade 1.
Shade range: Three shades; Light, Medium and Dark.
SPF: None.
Packaging: 30ml. This is a white squeezy tube with a narrow nozzle. I'm not a massive fan on the font, but that's not too important, I suppose.
Claims: Vivo claims this is a lightweight formula that primes and protects the skin, evens the complexion and leaves a smooth complexion. I'm not sure how it 'protects' since there is no mention of SPF anywhere on the tube.
Formula: My mum didn't try this one out - her face was still sore from the flare up mentioned in the previous post. I found this colour very light, with grey tones. The formula was thick with not much scent. It was quite dry and hard to blend. It snagged on my dry patches and the little hairs around my brows.
Coverage and Longevity: I found this had medium coverage, but was one of the most drying BB creams I tried. It might work for oily skins, but on my dry skin it didn't work so well. It covered my redness, but not my undereye bags - although I think this may be because it's quite an ashy colour. It made my skin look a little brighter but not dewy. It didn't set very quickly, so it felt tacky for a while after application, despite it being quite a dry formula.
I applied this at 3pm, and it felt a little sticky by the 4 hour mark. It faded pretty quickly; by about the 6 hour mark, and by 8 hours it was faded around the nose, chin and cheeks.
In summary:
Pros:
- Actually light colour for the light shade.
- Fairly medium coverage.
- Cancels out redness.
Cons:
- Dry formula, snagged on dry patches.
- Thick, difficult to blend.
- No SPF.
What do you think? Have you tried this BB cream?
I'll post a BB Cream roundup soon, but hopefully you enjoyed this series! Let me know what you thought!

hi! so i was wondering, after trying all these bb creams which one did u like better?
ReplyDeleteI'll be posting a roundup in a day or two where I talk about the ones I liked and didn't like, but for reference's sake; I liked the Maybelline and No.7 ones, for different reasons.

oh nice! thanks for answering, i was just wondering because every time i read a blog or watch a video about bb creams people say they have oily skin and you're the first one to say your skin is dry and so is mine.. hope to read your roundup review soon and maybe i'll still be able to get advantage of the 3X2 on maybelline hehe :)
DeleteOh good - I'll try to get that up ASAP. Glad that it's been helpful for you! :)

I've just bought this BB cream, not out of any high expectation but simply because for £3 (it was on offer) it will tide me over until I can buy something that works.
ReplyDeleteIt's a decent enough product, but like almost all of the "BB creams" on the western market, it's little more than a tinted moisturiser.
The colour was a nice change, though. At last a "fair/light" shade that doesn't make me look like a satsuma!
You're right, I really next to try out an Asian BB Cream to see what they are really meant to be like! I did like that this was a truly fair shade - for the very pale this would be a good colour match! Glad that you like it enough though!
